  • Payment data: Processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or bank details.
  • Strategy data: Trading strategies you submit (code, configurations, natural language descriptions), backtest parameters, and results
  • Usage data: Pages visited, referrer source, backtests run, features used, IP address, browser user agent
  • Technical data: Exchange selection, coin selection, timeframe, risk parameters used in backtests

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the backtesting service and generate strategy reports
  • Process payments and manage your account
  • Track usage for free tier limits (cookie-based for anonymous users)
  • Improve our backtesting accuracy and execution models using anonymized, aggregated patterns from submitted strategies
  • Monitor platform health and performance
  • Communicate about your account, new features, or important updates

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Strategy Data and Model Training

When you submit a strategy for backtesting, we store the strategy configuration and results in our database. We use anonymized, aggregated patterns from submitted strategies to improve our backtesting models, execution accuracy, and diagnostic algorithms. This means:

  • We may analyze which indicator combinations are most commonly tested and how they perform
  • We use aggregate performance data to calibrate our slippage, fee, and execution models
  • Individual strategies are never shared with other users or made public unless you explicitly choose to
  • Training data is anonymized — your email, account, and identity are stripped before any analysis

Your strategies remain your intellectual property. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and analyze your strategy data as described above. See our Terms of Service for full details.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use the following cookies and tracking technologies:

  • Essential cookies: Authentication (Clerk), session management. Required for the Service to function.
  • Usage tracking cookie: Tracks free backtest count for non-authenticated users (stratproof_free_runs). Essential for free tier management.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics (GA4) for aggregate traffic analysis. Self-hosted analytics for page view tracking and referrer detection. Used to improve the product.

You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent the Service from functioning properly.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

  • Clerk — Authentication and user management
  • Stripe — Payment processing
  • Google Analytics — Traffic analytics
  • Contabo — Server hosting (Tokyo, Japan)
  • Hetzner — Backup storage and staging (Germany/EU)

Each service has its own privacy policy governing data handling.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Backtest results are retained indefinitely for historical reference unless you request deletion. Anonymous usage data may be retained permanently for model improvement. You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data by contacting us.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Object to processing of your data for model training

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure server infrastructure, and access controls. Strategy data is stored in encrypted databases. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

StratProof is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

10. Changes

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
